Refund & Service Policies

Please read this document carefully before registration.  By confirming your registration, you are agreeing to these policies. 

IMPORTANT:  Puppy Power and Canine Communication Studies turn away numerous potential clients due to careful selection of desired clientele, as well as a high demand for limited class space and other services.  We do not keep waiting lists but instead refer those we cannot service to other respected training facilities.  Because of this, we have set and adhere to the policies below. 

Our policies have been created under legal advisement and are similar to those common to elective educational programs and other professional services, in that once a deadline has passed, a program has begun and/or materials have been sent and/or received, there are no refunds or transfers permitted, other than those specified in this document.

CONFIRMATION:  All classes, professional courses and private sessions must be confirmed by payment.  If your payment does not arrive by the agreed date and time and other arrangements have not been made, your reservation is immediately cancelled.  Once your reservation is confirmed by payment, our refund policies apply.  At that point you own only the dates, times, and services you have paid for.  Note: class registrations are non-transferable. 

TRANSFERS BETWEEN CLASSES:  Transfer between classes will only be permitted if space allows and the dog and handler are suited to that particular group.

NSF CHEQUES:  You will be held legally responsible for all NSF cheques and the applicable charges.  A service charge of $40 will be charged on all NSF cheques.  We reserve the right to certify any and all cheques at your bank before processing.  All non-payments will be sent to collections after 60 days unless other arrangements have been made.

MISSED CLASSES:  If you miss a class, contact your instructor to find out which exercises you missed.  Practice these exercises at home following your manual and your instructor’s advice, and we will do our best to catch you up during the following class.  A private make-up session can be arranged for a fee of $100 per half hour.  We reserve the right to book this appointment with another qualified trainer if your trainer is not available.  Make-up classes are not available and there will be no refunds for missed classes.  Please make sure your schedule is in order before confirming your reservation.

EMERGENCY CANCELLATIONS:  If cancellation is due to a serious emergency, serious illness or death, the refund policies still apply, however, other arrangements may be made and replacement classes may be offered at Norma Jeanne’s discretion.  Proof in the form of a legal document such as; doctor’s note, death certificate, police report etc is required.  These documents will be checked for authenticity.

Statistics have proven that clients who miss classes for any reason are at higher risk of not completing subsequent programs.

Because they are taking an opening another client would pay for and Puppy Power is taking a financial loss as result, all free,

additional or replacement classes must be confirmed with a signed cheque or credit card for the full amount. The agreed amount

will be returned if and when the client completes the entire program including all classes involved.

CANINE COMMUNICATION STUDIES PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS:   All CCS Payment Programs are non-cancelable, non-transferable and non-refundable. The "No Obligation Program" is available for those not able to make a study commitment.  Each student is obligated to consecutive monthly payments when agreeing to any payment program and each is a legal and binding contract.  All materials (sent and/or received) are non-refundable.  All study materials including the contract and course is non-transferable and non-refundable.  If for any reason, a “payment program” student discontinues their monthly payments, a $150 penalty for each and every package (of 12) they have received will immediately be due and outstanding in order to stop the processing of further payments.  This means if you cancel after receiving six packages, your penalty fee will be $150 x 6 = $900.

Refunds - Puppy Power Training Class Cancellations

1. A $25 processing fee will be deducted from all refunds.

2. All class cancellations must be submitted in writing, and dropped at the training facility by 3 pm on the due date specified in this

document for consideration. 

3. If no-one is at the facility to accept your written cancellation, you must call Norma Jeanne no later than the due date and time to

let her know it is there.

4. Due to the unreliability of voice mail, answering machine messages will not be accepted for cancellation.

Refunds - Level One Puppy or Adult Classes

Level One Puppy Classes cancelled no less than fourteen days before the starting date will receive a full refund minus

a $25 processing fee.

Adult Basic Training Classes cancelled no less than twenty-one days before the starting date will receive a full refund minus

a $25 processing fee.

Level One Puppy Classes cancelled between fourteen and seven days before the starting date will receive a 50% refund minus

a $25 processing fee.

Adult Basic Training Classes cancelled between twenty one and fourteen days before the starting date will receive a 50%

refund minus a $25 processing fee.

Level One Puppy Classes cancelled under seven days before the starting date or after the starting date will receive no refund

but may be offered another class at no additional charge if the reason for cancellation is serious or unavoidable at Norma Jeanne’s

discretion. 

Adult Basic Training Classes cancelled under fourteen days before the starting date or after the starting date will receive no

refund but may be offered another class at no additional charge if the reason for cancellation is serious or unavoidable at Norma

Jeanne’s discretion.

Exception - If Norma Jeanne is able to fill the opening, a full refund will be given minus a $25 processing fee.

Refunds - Levels Two, Three, Four, Canine Freestyle, Tricks and Private Sessions

All advanced Classes cancelled no less than thirty days before the starting date will receive a full refund minus a $25

processing fee.

All advanced Classes cancelled between thirty days and twenty one days before the starting date will receive a 50% refund

minus a $25 processing fee.

All advanced Classes cancelled under twenty one days before the starting date or after the starting date will receive no refund

but may be offered another class at no additional charge if the reason for cancellation is serious or unavoidable at Norma Jeanne’s

discretion.

Exception - If Norma Jeanne is able to fill the opening, a full refund will be given minus a $25 processing fee.

SCHEDULE CHANGES:  We reserve the right to cancel, re-schedule or change the date and time of any class or service.

FIRING CLIENTS:  Because we take great pride in our clients both human and canine, we hand select our clientele.  We reserve the right to fire any client without refund at our discretion for any of the following reasons;

·     The client is disrespectful to our staff, to any clients, family members or guests.

·     The client is disrespectful or inhumane to any animal.

·     The client does not follow our instructions.

·     The client endangers any dog by opening the door to the training room when other dogs are off leash.

·     The client uses physical force and/or punishment with any dog or person.

·     The client allows their dog to run off-leash in or around our facility unless asked by the trainer to remove their leash.

·     The client takes their dog out of their vehicle at our facility on a choke chain, pinch collar, any form of shock equipment or retractable leashes. 

      (For more information about the danger of these tools please ask your trainer.)

·     The client uses physical force or punishment, choke chains, pinch collars, or any form of shock equipment in private or public.

·     If the trainer feels a client’s dog presents a risk to other dogs or people. 

      (Please discuss any aggression concerns with your trainer before registering for any type of training.)

1. Refund/Cancellation Policy - All Payment Programs are non-cancelable, non-transferable and non-refundable. 2. Due to the need to make additions and changes as new information becomes available, Canine Communication Studies, courses are not certified by the Ontario Government.

3. A potential student has the right to come to The Canine Centre to view all materials before committing to the program.

4. All applicable manuals and videos containing the Canine Communication Studies, course will be mailed to the student upon arrival and clearance of each payment.

5. If after ordering and paying for  "On-Line", "College-Style" or "Tele-Classroom" courses, you find that your equipment is incompatible and/or you are unable to attend, the information will be sent to you in correspondence format, the NO REFUND POLICY will apply.

6. Students are responsible for any and all supplies necessary for practical and video applications of the course and in relation to running their own business.

7. For accreditation to be earned, a video submission is required for proof of successful completion & application of exercises within the Obedience Training Module, along with written tests for the Behaviour Therapy Module.

8. Certification will not be granted to those using tools or techniques that do not live up to CCS and/or IPDTA standards for humane dog training. Certification will be revoked if it is proven that a certified trainer begins to use, teach or support such tools and/or techniques.

9. If taking the Training and Behaviour modules separately, the Behaviour module MUST be completed first.

10. Students are fully responsible for any and all use or mis-use of any and all information received from the Canine Communication Studies course, in part or in whole.

11. The Canine Communication Studies, course is a "pet dog training" course and does not prepare for obedience trials or show handling.

12. Dogs are animals and as such can be unpredictable and have the potential of displaying unwanted behaviors without warning.  Working with dogs is not without risk to students, family members, guests, other people, dogs and possessions.

13. All students and/or applicants under the age of 18 require a signed copy of this application, contract & agreement along with a letter of consent including the understanding and acceptance of the program and these terms, from a legal parent or guardian on behalf of the minor.  This is to include all applicable parties names printed with accompanying signatures, dates & a descriptive relationship to the minor.

14. The undersigned hereby agrees to indemnity, agree to hold harmless, and to release from Liability; Canine Communication Studies, C.C.S., Norma Jeanne Laurette, Norma Jeanne’s Puppy Power, and/or Puppy Power, and any or all other related names and combination of names, for any and all risks involved with the Canine Communication Studies, Course and any and all direct or indirect results thereafter.

15. The undersigned hereby agrees to indemnity, agree to hold harmless, and to release from Liability; for any claim by any person or company against Canine Communication Studies, C.C.S., Norma Jeanne Laurette, Norma Jeanne’s Puppy Power, and/or Puppy Power, Puppy Power and Canine Communication Studies and any or all other related names and combination of names, including the legal costs to defend any such claim, whether or not the damages are caused in whole or in part by the negligence, actions or inaction's of any of these parties.

16. Signing below indicates your acknowledgment, understanding and agreement to the terms contained within the Enrollment & Tuition Application, and Contract and Agreement, and that you are setting your hand hereto delivering your signature freely, voluntarily and unconditionally.
